Greetings from the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire, UK.
I'm originally from Lancashire, a few miles away over the Pennine Hills, but I've lived in this county for long enough to be able to understand the local accent. Mostly.
I spent many years in the teaching profession, but now I spend a lot of time sequestered in a small room, typing frantically on my laptop. I also frequently curse the vagaries of technology and wonder if the Romans would have got this far, given a few more hundred years.
It's been great fun imagining them coming to grips with new technology, everything from steam engines (actually invented by the Ancient Greeks, though without a practical application), to their use of gunpowder, which would, I think, have mirrored our own.
If anyone says anything, I claim it's PARALLEL EVOLUTION.
Hey, it worked for Star Trek!
I started all this long before the Great Pandemic, but being stuck at home has given me the chance to develop and actually do something with my ideas. I'd love to hear your thoughts, comments, or just say hello. My best wishes go out to you and your families at this difficult time.
One more thing, just in case you were wondering, my feline overlords are called Zeus and Hades. They're almost as demanding as the originals.
